The
cat on the red bed is my beloved Bee, a blue point Birman. She
spent her earlier years as a show cat and was bred twice. Unfortunately
she had problems after her last litter and had to be spayed. I use the
word "unfortunately" only in relation to the problem it presented at the
time for Bee and for her Breeder. However, if it weren't for that
unfortunate situation I would never have been able to afford this cat.
She was already a Grand Champion, but after spaying she would not be
able to show in the same category as before. Her breeder wanted a good
home for Bee and one of her kittens, a female seal point. Although I
had another cat, I always wanted a Birman. They are well known for
their wonderful temperaments. I jumped at the opportunity to have two.
I drove hundreds of miles to pick up the girls. Bee was used to travel
and strangers and made only a few meows as we took off for my home. The
kitten talked to me for quite a distance before quieting down. This was
my first indication of what a talker she would turn out to be. Bee is a
great mother to her kitten, Angie, now five years old. They play together,
not too rough though. Bee is always licking Angie and Angie gives a few
token licks back to keep her mother interested. They remain very close
and cuddle frequently. At times though, Bee will hide to get a little
break from her motherly duties. But as shown in the second photo, Angie
usually finds her mother and joins her. The photo of both cats shows
Mama Bee trying to take a nap. As usual, her "baby" found her. Even
though they were both crowded by it, Angie pushed her Mom about until
there was room for both to nap.
Bee loves to be mothered too. And, I love being her Meowmy. These two
kitties make me laugh out loud every day.
