This
is Albert. He is a medium haired cat who was found crying by the side of
the road as a kitten. One of the teachers at my school rescued and fostered
him until she could find him a home. The minute I saw him, he had to be mine.
He's a medium grey with white on his face, tummy, paws, and the very tip of
his tail!
After living in a foster home with lots of other cats for company, it soon
became clear that Albert needed companionship, so I got him a playmate,
Gracie. At first they were leery of one another, but when I saw Albert place
his favorite toy, a red feather, on the floor and push it toward Gracie with
his paw, I knew they would be fast friends. Our cat family has grown since
then, but Albert continues to be (ultimately) loving and accepting of each of
his new brothers and sisters. He's very paternal, making sure all cats and
ears in our house are sparkling clean.
Albert is a terrific hunter, depositing all his bird carcasses under the porch...
that is, when he doesn't bring them in the house to show to his mom.
If I could just teach him to leave the hummingbirds and indigo buntings
alone! He also sits patiently, watching for the voles under the bird feeder!
Just two or three more, and he will have wiped them out for me.
Albert is the sweetest, smartest boy in the whole world. He communicates when
he wants to be petted by tapping my hand with his paw; he makes offerings of
his toys when he wants to make friends; and he watches over everyone in the
house to be sure they're clean and happy. Albert is the love of our lives.
