To
me, a house is not a home without cats so after having to say goodbye
to my Charles, I asked my vet to be on the lookout for two boy kitties,
preferably a bonded pair, up to around four years old but not kittens.
Imagine my surprise and reluctance when she called and told me about "a
really sweet female, about seven months old." I went and met the little
grey tabby who immediately crawled into my lap, looked up at me while
purring madly and I said to myself, "It looks like I have a cat." Then I
noticed a distinct tummy bulge - yep, the little tabby was expecting. "No
problem," I thought. "I'll just keep her and one of the babies." She
became Princess Chelsea Pearl and five days after she came home with me I
was presented with four adorable kittens.
When the kittens were a little over four weeks old, my Princess became
gravely ill. We rushed to the clinic and Chelsea had to have emergency
surgery to repair a really rare bowel problem. What else could I do? Those
four babies needed their mommy. She was fixed at the same time so I refer
to her surgery as the "world's most expensive spay job." Thankfully, she
recovered and was reunited with her kittens ten days later. What a joyous
session of licking, purring, and playing!
I ended up keeping two boy kittens plus Chelsea so my home is now filled
with kitty love!
Chelsea is dainty, sweet, and much smaller than her "boys". She adores
chasing the laser pointer light around the living room, finding a spot of
sunshine for napping, watching the birds outside her window and waking me
up every morning, usually about an hour before I need to get up. Every day
in my heart I thank my vet for introducing me to my sweet little girl.
