We
saw Rocco on the
Medfield Animal Shelter's
website.
They listed his story as a very sad one. According to
the neighbors who rescued him, Rocco's elderly owner passed away and she had
quite a few cats, but when her family came to get the home ready to sell, they
simply wanted to "dispose of" all the cats. (How family members could have
cared so little about these beautiful kitties whom their mom clearly loved is
very disturbing and sad).
Anyway, lucky little Rocco escaped and had the good sense to hide out long
enough to be forgotten about by those people looking to get rid of the cats.
Thankfully, compassionate neighbors spotted him and the shelter took him in.
He ended up with pneumonia, but that didn't stop us from falling in love! The
shelter loved him back to good health. I cannot thank the volunteers enough
for saving him!
We were able to take him home about a month after we met him. He is the
absolute sweetest little boy. He is very affectionate and loves attention.
If you are near him and not paying attention, he will gently take his paw and
nudge you so you know he's there and waiting for some love. If he cannot
find me, he screams until I let him know where I am and he will run at top
speed to come and be with me.
He sleeps snuggled in my arms every night. He has made our family complete.
Our four-year-old cat Shadow was reluctant at first, but she has grown to
adore him. They are best friends who run together and wrestle. They can be
caught snuggling sometimes too.
Their favorite room is our three-season porch that is made entirely of
windows. I think they feel that we have this room just for them - it is like a
big screen TV of the outside world. That is as close as they will get to the
outside world - it's strictly the safe haven of the indoors for our precious
kitties!
We love our sweet little Rocco!!! Here is a video about Rocco,
Rocco's story.
