Tippy Sue, the Cat of the Day
Name: Tippy Sue
Age: Three years old
Gender: Female
Kind: Flame Point Siamese mix
Home: Rapid City, South Dakota, USA

I would love for you to meet my beautiful Tippy Sue! Tippy acquired her name when she was about ten weeks old because she kept tipping over. You see my beautiful girl is a very special kitty, she is a Cerebellar Hypoplasia (CH) kitty!

Cerebellar Hypoplasia is a form of brain damage, but don't let that fool you, she is as bright as they come, really quite smart. Most CH kitties are, probably because they really have to use their brain to compensate for their handicap.

The damage occurs when the mother cat is injected with the distemper vaccine while pregnant and the live virus goes to the embryos causing brain damage, or the mother cat gets distemper while pregnant.

This form of brain damage effects the cats' motor skills and quite often they have a shaking about their head and hind quarters. The severity of the brain damage can vary from mild, moderate to severe. I could go on and on, but what you need to know is that most often they are very loving very devoted cats. Most CH kitties have two speeds, wobbly or warp! And if they're in warp speed, look out!

Tippy is three years old and she is a domestic medium long hair but is also part Flame Point Siamese and that is where she gets her beautiful beautiful blue eyes, and yes they really are that blue!

Tippy Sue is not only special to me because of her CH status, but because she is the last thing my mother gave me before I lost my mother just a couple of months later. I cherish this beautiful gift my momma gave me and love her with all my heart!
