Hi
ya' all from the great city of New Orleans, Louisiana.
Peggy's my name and I'm a very special cat. I was found one rainy day on the
warehouse dock of Greybar Electric. I weighed in (soaking wet) at 4 oz. and
was probably left by my mommy because I was born with no paws, one back leg
dragged behind me and the other back leg only bent at the hip. Oh, forgot to
tell you, I have one little ear and one big ear. As with all cats in the
wild, my mommy didn't think she could waste her milk on a cat that wasn't
going to make it so she left me in a pipe. HA, did I fool her. I screamed at
the top of my lungs and some nice people took me to ARNO (Animal Rescue New
Orleans). Now, they said they were full and couldn't take me, but one look
and that was it. A call to my "bottle Mommy" Dawn and I was picked up in an
instant and taken to this nice house in New Orleans - but man there were a
bunch more cats there. It was then I decided that I was going to live and
that I was going to rule everyone and every animal in this house. Thus, they
say I have an attitude problem - no problem, you do what I want and all will
be fine.
Mommy bottle fed me and I never left her side for the first six months -
evacuating for a hurricane, traveling on a plane and riding everywhere with
her. I am now a perfect 4.5 pound beauty and I get along quite well walking
and running, love my blind buddy "Bumpy" and tolerate the rest of the bunch.
Most everyone at the house has something wrong with them (blind, one eye,
three legs, etc.) so I really feel very normal. Mommy has stools and steps
for me to get up on the couch and in bed and she does carry me from room to
room (on my kitty bed throne) so I can be with her and not have to walk. I'd
have my mommy wrapped around my little toe (if I had one). As you can see,
I'm a computer wizz - that's my baby picture, a huge LSU football fan - in my
cheerleading outfit, and in my carry on pouch parading as the only cat in the
Barkus Dog Mardi Gras Parade (my friend Laura is carrying me). It was 800
dogs and me. Me afraid - I think not. This fall I start my classes to become
a companion pet which means mom and I will visit hospitals, nursing homes,
schools, to visit people and help educate children that your best friend can
also be disabled and that's okay. I have the most-laid back personality that
mom can take me anywhere and I'll just sit on her lap, or anyone else's for
that matter. I have even visited a preschool and I let all the children hold
me, hug me and kiss me. Hey, if you're getting all the attention - enjoy it,
baby. Hope you like my story and - Please spay and neuter your pets so mommy
doesn't have to bottle feed 100's a year. The world has enough dogs and cats -
don't breed - adopt from a shelter.
