I
guess I'm prejudiced, but I think my Luke is one beautiful cat with his
blue eyes. I named him Luke for Cool Hand Luke played by Paul Newman who had
blue eyes. Luke was the largest of three kittens and he grew into a big cat.
He was a large kitten and is now a large cat. (Yes, he is overweight but the
vet says he is healthy.) A neighbor was going to take the litter of kittens
to the animal shelter when I first saw them. I thought Luke was the prettiest
kitten I had even seen and I took him home.
He can be loving and purring and rubbing against me or curled up next to me or
he will want to be alone. He is Mr. Independent at times but not always. I've
had cats before but never one that hisses. Yes, Luke will hiss at me if I try
to get him to do something he doesn't want to do, such as go outside if it is
cool.
Often when I'm at the computer he will walk up to me just to have his head
scratched. One of his favorite activities is chasing a ball in a sock that I
throw. I accidentally discovered he liked to retrieve when I threw the ball
in sock for my little dog. Often Luke will retrieve the ball sock and bring
it back before my little chihuahua can get it. I think he likes to be "the
boss" and grab the sock ball before the little dog gets it. Another inside
game for him is trying to get a ball out of a round thingy which is not
possible and at times I think it drives him nuts. He also likes to play with a
feather on a stick that I move around.
In good weather Luke likes to go outside and watch the birds and squirrels.
Sometimes he tries to catch a bird but has never succeeded. He also likes to
follow us around when we walk in the yard. He is not one to go very far from
the house. When he sees us outside, he raises his tail and runs toward us, so
cute, so glad to see us.
At times he likes to cozy up with my little chihuahua. Sometimes they nap
together on the couch. Being a cat, he also likes his alone time. If I'm not
feeling well, he will snuggle up with me, all warm and cozy.
All in all he is a very loving, sweet, and beautiful cat and he is special to me.
