This
beautiful orange striped boy is our feral cat, Peter Puss. He was born
to a feral mother and lives with his mom, sister, and two cousins, along with
two adopted friends, in our backyard and garage. Peter is the only one who
allows me to pet him. He will sit at our back French doors looking in, hoping
for a glimpse of me, so he can turn those big green eyes in my direction,
hoping I come out and pet him or let him sit in my lap, which I always do. He
has me trained perfectly!
Peter spends his days in our garden, which by the way, he truly feels is his.
He even has a section of the yard named for him, Peter Puss Plaza, where he
sleeps the day away with his chosen mate, Rosie. In bad weather, he will
condescend to sleep in our garage with his family in one of five beds, pads, on
the cars, wherever his heart desires. He chases birds, lizards, mice, rats,
and watches the raccoons as they munch on his food.
I have tried counting the stripes on Peter when he's sitting in my lap but I
always lose count around 100! He and his family have all been fixed and
pronounced healthy so I am hoping, even though he is technically feral, that
he will live a long life full of love and sunshine!
