Living
a little ways outside of town, we often have lost or feral cats make
their way to our yard. We trap them and spay or neuter them, but occasionally
we are a little bit too late, as happened with Sammy's mom.
Sammy (and his sister Maxi Lu) showed up one day at the cat food bowl with
their mother. They had been living under our shed. They were already old
enough to run very fast, so it took some effort to capture them. We enticed
Sammy into a carrier using a feather-on-a-string toy. We were lucky to
capture them both on the same day. I've included a photo of him and Maxi as
kittens playing in boxes, and as you can see from one of the more recent
photos, he still loves a good box!
From scruffy and flea-bitten, Sammy grew up to be fluffy and sweet-tempered.
He loves to play with his sister and hang around with his other adopted kitty
brothers. He enjoys having his beautiful fur brushed and is always willing to
pose for a photo. Sammy has a large vocabulary, from chirps to whispers to
raspy "rowrs." He's especially talkative when it gets close to kitty supper
time! We love him very much.
