Mimi
came home to be a companion to my grieving Burmese boy, Monte Carlo. My
two older Burmese cats went over the Rainbow Bridge within five weeks of each
other and Monte was inconsolable.
I called my vet who saves cats and kittens and places them with caring people.
Mimi had recently been found and saved. She had been tied up in a hessian
bag with her three siblings, and thrown into bushland. That someone could do
that to innocent animals is just unbelievable. The four kittens were
traumatized and starving, and the tip of Mimi's tail was broken, but with food
and good veterinary care, they never looked back. I chose Mimi and the others
went to good homes.
Mimi took to Monte almost immediately. She was so tiny, and he is a big cat.
I'll always remember her draping her paw around his neck when he came in from
the garden, running alongside him. As she grew bigger, she managed to climb
on him, with her four paws hanging down his sides. They have been absolutely
inseparable for almost seven years.
Mimi has the most enchanting manners. She kisses me gently on the nose. She
curls her feet in and out when I talk to her. She rolls with delight wherever
there is sun. And her high-pitched squeaks are a joy.
She has a very zany sense of humour. A girlfriend was staying with me for the
weekend, and we were sitting on the couch watching TV. In walked Mimi, with
my friend's watch in her mouth. She laid it carefully at my friend's feet,
squeaked, and then ran off.
Mimi is also a catwalk model. She loves to jump up on things - the arm of the
couch, or her cat tree, and parade up and down, turning with purrfect aplomb.
Mimi has brought so much love and affection to Monte and me. Her love shines
from her beautiful eyes. I thank the day she came to us. She truly is my
Cat of the Day every day.
