This
is Polly, we call her Polly Dolly. She is a year old. She and her
littermate, Paddles, were both born with extra toes. Between the two kittens
there are 50 toes! Polly has six on all four feet, and Paddles has six on the
back and seven on the front (polydactyl, also called a Hemingway). Polly and
Paddles' photos were put on the local news website, and they saw it and did a
story about them on the 5 o'clock news. NBC saw it and did a story on them on
the Today Show which aired in September 2009 on a Saturday morning. So, we've
got little celebrities! Polly has been the best kitten and she has brought a
lot of joy to our house!
Polly loves to play hide-and-go-seek with my husband (her owner - however you
would want to word it), they run through the house and it sounds like they're
tearing it apart, but they both get a good workout anyway! She has finally
learned to hold back a little and give us a chance to actually hide, where
before, she'd pretty much beat you to the hiding spot you chose! She is very
affectionate, but of course, like most cats, it's on her terms and at her
convenience! But if there is work to be done around the house, she's right
there every step, helping and supervising (getting in the way), but we call
her our "little helper".
