This
is an older photo of Stormylicious: he was recently shaved during
skin transplant surgery. And let's be blunt, it makes him look like a naked
mole rat. Stormy was a stray cat caught in a cat harness put on him when he
was much smaller. The poor soul walked like Sylvester the Cat (the LightBulb
Kitty) and his fur was dirty and knotted.
Stormy being Stormy, he somehow managed to be a fat stray cat, proving without
a doubt there is a fat gene. Armed with gloves, scissors, cat crunchies and
true love for animals, my friend and I freed him from his harness, revealing
bloody and puss-filled deep skin lacerations resulting in the recent skin
transplant, all around its contour.
A few days after freeing him, I came back with a cage to bring him home. I
must admit my kindness was a bit motivated by the fact I thought Fat
Stormychat was a pregnant kitty. I was at first planning to nurse him back to
health and give him to my good friend, since we have already quite a menagerie,
but he won our hearts. We don't know how old he is, but probably four or five years old.
It has been wonderful living with Stormy even though loves to meow by the
door, faking he wants in and then run away playfully when we open the door and
he has cost my cat-loving boyfriend (Thank you Vic) the equivalent of two
weeks in an all-inclusive diving resort in the Caribbean in vet bills. I
encourage all of you to get an older cat, I know kittens are so cute, but
older strays also need love.
