This
is Opus. He is a Maine Coon, and is almost 20 years old, or as his vet
says 'stupidly old'.
He lives in The United Kingdom in the county of Surrey. He used to hunt Rats
and Rabbits but now he mostly enjoys sleeping and cuddles, although he is
looking a little frail and sometimes a little moth eaten he still commands
respect from his housemate, another Maine Coon who is almost twice the size of
Opus.
His favorite 'Game' is unlocking the cat flap at about 3am wriggling outside
and then howling underneath the bedroom window until we go down stairs and let
him back in. When he was younger he was very aloof, but now he is just the
opposite and wants to be with us all the time.
He is a little hard of hearing now but he used to hate the sound of whistles,
especially my penny whistle. When I played it he would purposefully climb onto
the arm of the chair in which I was sitting and gently bite the end of my nose
to make me stop! He also has that 'endearing' Maine Coon habit of patting
his water bowl before he drinks, which means there is a flood in the kitchen
every morning. We can't leave a vase of flowers about either, or he scatters
them everywhere to get at the water in the vase.
His favorite toys are catnip filled mice and birds from Culppers Herbal shop
- he goes wild for them! He eats most things ... frequently ... but is partial
to chicken and the odd curried prawn, oh and buttered toast. He is a wonderful
cat and every day he is with us is a joy.
