I
may be little, but my life has had more twists and turns than a Dickens
novel. When I was a baby, my brother and I were abandoned at a horse
auction in New Jersey. As fate would have it, we came into the care of a
wonderful group of dedicated cat rescuers at the
Northeast Animal Rescue
in Philadelphia. My brother, a
long-haired ginger, was in great shape and soon found a loving home. But
I was very, very frail. It turns out that I had a terrible case of worms,
and I hadn't pooped for a long, long time. A vet and her staff tried to
help me, but nothing could get my bowels moving. My euthanasia
authorization form was signed. But an angel vet tech named Dori refused
to give up on me. She used her magical powers and saved my life. I was
still very sick, but after taking a lot of medicine, I recovered.
A sweet family adopted me and soon noticed that I was looking a bit
strange. Most of the guard hairs over my torso turned white! It turns out
that I was suffering from a rare harmless condition called a fever coat.
Now, a few months later, most of my white hairs have shed away and have
been replaced by black hair. Whew! Now I spend my time antagonizing my
mellow older sister, Aurora, who only seems to appreciate me when I'm
unconscious. She says I make a great pillow then. My life is still
exciting; mom and dad told me that I will soon be going to the dentist
because lots of my milk teeth never fell out. Doesn't everyone have eight fangs?
