This
is Aubie - named after the mascot at Auburn University. Aubie began
her life as a wild cat, living by her own wits. She and others used to
hide in the drainage sewer. She's still afraid of the sound from the trash
truck each week. I've owned probably a dozen cats during my life and Aubie
is the best one of all. She has great energy, is filled with personality,
and loves the indoors as well as the outdoors now.
What makes her special, in addition to her love for my wife and me, is
that, in many ways, she is more dog-like than cat at times. She loves to
chase a tennis ball in the back yard and tackles it after she catches it.
The video, Soccer Cat, captures some of this playfulness.
Aubie is a good example that should remind everyone how important it is to
rescue animals and make a good home for them.
