This
is Kagemusha (a.k.a. Ushie, Little Ush, Musha, Mushie). I got Kagemusha
(which is Japanese for 'shadow of the warrior' because he's black and pointy)
free from a family whose Burmese pussycat had a litter of kittens (father
unknown) and Little Ush was the last of the kittens to get a home. The family
told me that his mother was just the sweetest cat and similarly Ushie is the
sweetest, most loving, snuggliest little cat in the whole world. He is so
gentle and all he ever wants is cuddles. He will follow you from room to room
and will cry if he can't find you. His favorite thing is to get into bed with
you and lie against you, under the covers but near the pillow, and purr. He
is very demanding when it comes to cuddles and will paw you if you stop
stroking him - until you start again. If you are sitting forward in the
armchair he will get on the armrest and push your shoulder back until you sit
back in the chair and your lap becomes available for him.
He loves other animals as well both dogs and cats. Our last dog Saffy was a
golden retriever and Ushie would rub himself against Saffy's chest - it was
so adorable to watch. When he was little he used to chase one of our older
cats Gizzy (a tuxedo) around and around as if to say "I want to be like you
Giz! I want to be like you!'. These days Ushie has retired to a seaside
apartment where he has become used to looking out over the ocean and people
and dogs jogging past. One day he went onto the enclosed balcony of the
apartment and cried and cried. He only stopped crying when the blind was
raised and we realized he was upset because he couldn't look at the view.
Every day he makes us smile and we cherish every moment given his age but we
pray he lives in continued good purring health for years to come. He's just a
bundle of love wrapped in fur.
