This
is Chibi (Blazer was the breeder's name for him). Chibi means tiny in
Japanese, which he was for all of fifteen minutes after I got him. I
thought that it would be cute to name this huge cat Tiny. It is unexpected.
He is only seven months old, but is the size of a full grown cat and even
bigger than some dogs (twelve pounds). He loves water. He watches me shower.
He even drinks out of a cup. He is a scientist, constantly checking the
theory of gravity. He is really a sweet cat.
Chibi wakes me up every morning with cat kisses. However, after that,
Chibi is a young, very independent kind of boy. He is not a lap cat
because, as a kitten with the world to conquer, he simply can't hold still
that long. He is a beehive of activity. He has a whole list of things to
accomplish while he is still a kitten. He doesn't do any tricks, but I am
in the process of training him to use the human toilet. He doesn't mind
this because he is absolutely fascinated with the contraption and Maine
Coons, unlike other cats love water. He prefers drinking out of a cup than
his bowl.
His favorite toy is a springy toy with a fluffy red ball at the end. He
can bat that back and forth for a long time. However, I decided that
buying him toys was almost a waste of money. He really prefers things that
aren't toys such as a cardboard box, a crumpled ball of foil and my stress
ball. Sadly, my other cats aren't thrilled with him because they are old
and he just has too much energy. He is, sad to say, a bully of sorts.
However, afterwards, he grooms the other cats. He eats cat food, but is
quite a nuisance when there is human food out. Last night was chicken ...
well, you know how that went. My husband is Japanese and Chibi prefers the
Japanese breakfast which is rice, egg and fish flake. He even understands
a few words of Japanese including "Chibi neko chan" which means young
master Chibi and "dame yo" or "yada" which mean not good or stop it. That
was last said as he was trying to knock my dinner off of the table so that
he could eat it, himself. We love him just the way he is, though.
