Three
months after getting my other cat, Doodle, I felt like she needed a
friend who could teach her how to be a cat and not just my little furry
child. Let's face it, I couldn't chase her under the couch like a new feline
friend could. So, I went to the Campbell County Humane Society to adopt
Doodle a new brother or sister.
When I first walked in two longhair kittens caught my eye right off the bat,
but I wanted to give the other cats a chance. I saw many beautiful cats, but
some where too old for Doodle, or didn't get along well with other cats. Some
weren't fixed or needed medicine, but never the less, they were all amazing
and deserved a home. I wish I could have taken them all with me, but that was
out of the question. Still, I couldn't get those kittens out of my mind. I
went back to their cage and there he was. This long-haired ball of fluff who
was having a ball playing with his sister. I had no doubt that he was the
one. I filled out paperwork, but had to wait for him to be fixed a few days
later. His sister was being adopted that same week, so I didn't feel like I
was separating them.
That Wednesday I scooped up my little man and couldn't wait for him to meet
Doodle. Sadly, I couldn't say the same about her. She did not like him at
all. It was the first time I ever saw her aggressive side. Her hair stood
straight up and she was clearly not happy. After a couple of days of him
staying out of her way, I caught her cuddle up with him cleaning his ears.
They've never spent a day apart since.
I never regret getting my little boy. Though his presence did change Doodle's
attitude a bit, she deserved to have a friend of her own species.
Lil Man is a typical Ragdoll. He loves to be loved, but isn't a lap cat. He
kind of goes limp in your arms when you pick him up. It's like he trusts you
so much, that he knows you won't drop him. Lil Man is the kind of cat you
have to make sure you're not going to step on, cause he won't move out of
your way. I've never really heard him meow either. He just kind of peeps this
little noise when he wants attention or when he want to go outside. Though he
has that long Ragdoll coat, he loves to be outside all the time. I love him
dearly and I'm glad I am able to give him the loving home he was, at first,
denied.
