This
is my cat Texas. I wasn't looking for a cat at the time, but one day
while driving in the country, I came across a homemade sign on a farm that
said kittens for sale. So just for the fun of it, I pulled up to the barn and
had a look. The little girls that lived at the farm had caught some of the
kittens and put them in a cage to sell. When I saw this little ball of fur,
there was no way I was going to leave without him! He was the cuttest kitten
I have ever seen! He was six weeks old at the time. Two days later I went
back with my daughter and we took his sister home. Her name is Kody (short
for Dakota). I had both cats fixed and the vet said that Texas was going to
be a big cat. He was right! Texas is almost seven years old now and he
weights around sixteen pounds. Texas has the most laid back, gentle
personality. Kody and he get along very well.
Texas must be a Maine Coon cat and loves to be brushed which is a good thing
being that his hair is so long! I enjoy both my cats and it's great watching
them when they get a spurt of energy running and jumping all over the
furniture. That doesn't happen near as much as it used to in their younger
days. I'm glad I stopped that one day to check out the "barn" cats for sale!
