This
is Willow, or Willowkins if she's feeling kittenish. I adopted her
from the shelter three and a half years ago. I had just lost my beloved
Gilbert to feline cardiomyopathy at eigthteen months old and didn't think I'd
want another pet again so soon, but my apartment was so lonely without a
feline presence that I began tentatively looking for a new friend. I found
Willow on the internet and read how she had been abused by her original
owners. Her story and picture touched me and I thought she could use a
quiet, loving home. I thought I was rescuing her, but in reality, she
gives me as much, if not more, than I could ever give her.
Willow is the light of my life and makes me smile or laugh at least once a
day. When she's feeling particularly snuggly, she crawls up and lays her
head on my shoulder so that she's being held like a baby. Her favorite
toys are the plastic rings that come off of the milk bottles. She plays
fetch with them like a dog, and I often wake up in the morning to find
myself surrounded by them. Willow is an indoor cat, but spends hours
sitting on the radiator cover in front of the window, keeping an eye on
the neighborhood. She especially likes it in the winter, when the heat is
on! She has issues which must stem from her early life, and the doorbell,
the vacuum cleaner, and thunder all send her under the covers to hide. All
in all, though, she's a wonderful companion!
