Roxi
was a gift to cheer me up after months of mourning the loss of my
almost nineteen-year-old Siamese feline, Candace Windeburgh, Pooh for short. Who
hasn't wondered about ever having a pet again after losing one who had
been such a constant presence for so many years?! Roxi knew that she had
very large small paws to fill and from day one announced that although she
was small, she would fill the gaping hole in my heart. She set about
endearing herself to everyone as only a kitten can, for example, going
into the study, selecting and retrieving a soft toy for herself. Imagine
our surprise when she rattled downstairs arriving in the lounge carrying
of all the toys, a Pooh bear, almost as large as herself. We believe that
was our old Pooh's blessing bestowed on the new kitten. Pooh bear kept her
company until we could find her a real live playmate, Ouzo. At first Rox
was a bit jealous, but luckily it was winter and through their snuggling
became friends, not fast friends, just friends. After all, Roxi is number
1 cat and makes sure we all remember and honor that, especially Ouzo.
These two personalities are the soul of my home and rarely do I come home
without being showered with their vocal joy at simply being there and
being cats.
