I,
Millicent, nominate myself for Cat of the Day because no one else would
do it. I'm not like those adorable fluff balls that get all the fuss here.
I'm feral born and proud of my independence. As a kitten, I became
separated from my mother and litter mates. I took refuge under a porch
where one day I was discovered by a man. Of course, I wouldn't let him
near me when he tried to coax me out. I hissed and spit till he went away.
That showed him who he was dealing with. But he came back with more men to
capture me. Since I was out-numbered (and they were wearing gloves for
protection), I decided to see what they had to offer me. I was taken to a
very large house where I was surprised to find no cats at all and only one
human. I gave this house a walk-through and decided it would suit my
needs. I made it clear that there would be no touching my fur unless I
initiated it. That way no blood need be spilled.
Then came a hurricane that drove away many people and animals. When the
people began to return, two more cats came to live in my house. I set them
straight from the start just who was the alpha cat. Sometimes I allow
Elaine and Calvin to sleep on my sofa, but at a respectable distance.
Despite my attitude, I am a loyal cat and provide much amusement for those
I permit to make my acquaintance.
