Sasha
was a faithful and very responsive friend. I rescued him from off
the streets of Prague, Czech Republic. Together with our companion cat
Radka, also a rescue, these two were my true and only family. Sasha
uncannily anticipated my needs and catered for them sensitively. I
endeavored to do likewise for him. Our home was filled with mutual love
and respect; in consequence, there were absolutely no behavioral problems
at all.
Sasha was a real trooper to the end, meeting me at the door up until his
penultimate day. He succumbed to a plasma cell cancer in February 2011 but
was a tough and healthy moggie until his final illness. I had been wont to
make up kitty songs and sing to him, including our morning "Aubade"
[morning song]. I still sing to his picture now on my computer desktop,
missing him more than words could tell.
Sashymo deserves the honor of Cat of the Day in respect of being a cat
companion with heart, a tremendous and generous heart.
