Poki
was one of five kittens found in our backyard four years ago. Her mom
was a stray that had given birth to her kittens just a day or two before
we found them. Since there are not many strays in our neighborhood, we
thought the mom must belong to someone, but we were not able to find her
owner. We found homes for Poki's brothers and sisters and Poki was the
last one that needed a home. We decided to keep her along with her mom.
Since we had never owned a cat before, this was a new experience for us.
It didn't take long for Poki and her mom to become part of our family. She
loves to play on her cat tree and in her tunnel. She makes us laugh every
day and we can't imagine life without her.
Our daughters originally named her Pocahontas, but we call her Poki for
short. Poki is a rather shy cat... she runs upstairs and hides under the
bed when she hears the doorbell or when strangers come over. We used to
let her outside, but she climbed up a tree and jumped onto the roof of our
house, so needless to say, she is an indoor cat now!
