This
is my twenty-year-old cat, his name is Austen. Named after the second
highest Himalayan Mountain (Mount Goodwin Austen). He was born August 20,
1990. He is the best and nicest cat I have ever known. He is shown here at
his 20th birthday party with a chicken breast for his cake. He is on my lap
right now as I'm typing this. His health is good: he gets fluids every two
weeks, he hears some sounds (not many) and his eyesight is still pretty good.
He was the runt of the litter once upon a time.
He is the most loving, sweetest little thing in the world. I got him when he
was just two months old and my sister had his brother who since has passed. We
called them "The Brothers." He is a lap cat, and sleeps between mine and my
husband's pillows every night. If I'm laying on the couch, he is too. He
doesn't know any tricks and doesn't play hardly at all anymore, but when he
was younger even up to maybe a year ago he would play anytime I wanted to.
We'd play Hide & Seek - he would come find me and then jump on my head (I'd
be on the floor behind a door or wall). He loved the laser pointer and any
string or cat toy. He knows the sound of my car when I get home and greets me
every time. He is all fur. He weighs a little under five pounds, but, was
always small. I don't think he has ever even reached seven pound. in his life
(like I said he was the runt). He is very affectionate, he can't get close
enough to me. His heart is full of love, as are ours for him.
