Here
is my ten month old kitten, Petunia (or as we call her, Tuny, for
short). She is a blue Maine Coon, but thinks she is a dog. I got her as a
four month old on Craigslist; her previous family no longer wanted a kitty,
but preferred a dog--maybe this is where her canine characteristics started
to form.
Tuny is the most loving cat I've ever seen. Although, since she is still a
kitten, she does not enjoy being held too often, it is fairly normal to hear
her purr or see her napping next to one of her human roommates; she longs to
be petted and loves belly rubs. She is now rather large, has paws the size of
"Big Feet", is a definite pear shaped individual and is certainly the largest
female feline I have encountered thus far.
As stated previously, Tuny believes she is a dog. She chippers at outside
birds and squirrels, will sit on command for treats, drinks out of the
toilet, greets us at the door, could care less about her grooming habits, is
loud, loves to stomp her big paws around, and is extremely clumsy. She will
often randomly fall off of the arm of a couch and squirms her way up our
cabinets and fridges. But like a cat, she loves her toy mousies and playing
with string. Her favorite food is the chicken off of burritos or bowls at
Chipotle. You'll most likely find her napping (and snoring for that matter)
on top of a human bed!
The most ironic fact about this amazing ball of fur is that her birthday,
coincidentally, is the same day as my first dog's death. Petunia is a joy to
have, and I believe she was sent to me as a way to help me heal through the
death of my canine bud. She has definitely warmed the hearts of my friends
and I, and often makes us laugh through her clumsiness.
