The
Story of Feline Success:
I am Brown Cat and the guy on my right is Black Cat, and this is our
success story. Of course we are cats and we don't really have names, but
those are the names given to us by our creatively impaired adopted pets
(people). The name thing is meaningless since we don't respond to names
anyway. In the winter of 2009 we were feral cats. I had been owned by some
NY City folks that had a summer house out here, but at the end of the
summer they abandoned me and went back to the City. That's when I got
together with my buddy who was born in the wild.
Near the end of the winter we saw a cute little house where a nice human
couple lived year round, and we put our plan into effect. Although we were
accustomed to catching food and feeding ourselves well, we decided there
might be a better life, so we started hanging out near the house and
acting hungry and lonely. Sure enough, it worked, and within a week or so
they started bringing out food for us. Yes, life was already getting
better, but we knew there must be more. Soon we actually let these humans
touch us and I even would climb on their lap and let them pet me (yuck!).
Sure enough, we adopted these people as our pets. The female pet had a
history of cat allergies so we couldn't go inside the house and we
realized that it would be nice to be inside for the next winter. We
convinced them to spend some bucks and buy us cat igloos in which to
sleep. But we knew we could do even better. It was spring and we were
plenty warm, but we pretended to be cold. What a great result. Our new
pets built us a $50,000 heated sun room with a cat door to the outside (we
must be outside whenever we want). Shorty our female pet realized that she
was no longer allergic to us so we gained access to the house as well as
the sun room. They would groom us so we could now stop wasting all that
time grooming ourselves. Sometimes they go on vacation and we only have
the huge sun room. Last year they took a seven week vacation and I had to
teach them not to go for that long, so I pulled all the hair off my
flanks. Now they never leave for long. The only inconvenience in all of
this is that once a year they take us to this guy, Vet. Its not really a
problem, but we make a big deal out of it any way and scream and yell when
we are in cat boxes. Black Cat didn't like the first trip to Mr Vet very
much because he removed a couple of things from him that I think were
removed from me by my first owners (I can hardly remember). Our pets said
this had something to do with keeping the feral cat population under control.
Whatever, we now have it really great and we hope other cats can learn
from us about how to find pets and to get the most out of them. One last
hint that works well for me: always keep a bit of cattitude to let them
know who is boss.
Please pass our story on,
Two cats known as Brown Cat and Black Cat
