This
is Tootsie, she's around nine years old and I've had her for four
years come February 2011. She's very lazy with the exception of some crazy
running round the flat at around 4am on laminate floor, skidding round
doorways and sending the living room rug flying. She doesn't socialize
well with other cats at all and gets very jealous if I even look at
another cat, let alone speak to or give affection to. She's got half a
tail left after chasing a cat next door and getting her tail trapped
somewhere and half had to be amputated, I was much more upset about it
than she was mind you!
She's a gorgeous (if tubby) tuxedo, very vocal and has a fantastic
personality. When I first got her we both lived with my not so nice ex but
we left there three years ago and have both come on leaps and bounds since,
she's moved from hiding behind the tv and in the wardrobe to actually
coming into the room and speaking to strangers, though she doesn't seem to
like children at all, am not sure why. I got her from Cardonald Cat and
Dog home in Glasgow, Scotland, her previous owner was elderly and wasn't
fit to look after her any more and when I went in, there she was, hiding
in the basket with just one huge green eye staring out and I fell in love
with her there and then. She's been a huge comfort to me over some bad
times and is such good fun over the good times and I can't believe she
used to be so timid.
She's very affectionate, knows what she likes (breakfast and dinner!) and
enjoys lying on window ledges watching the world go by or snoozing on me
or the sofa, if there's an empty box or bag she's inside it. She doesn't
go out just now because we live in a flat on a main road and she's never
really been an outdoor cat. She loves human food, especially chicken,
fish, milk, cheese and she'll have your hand off for prawns! She also
knows she gets away with murder because really, how do you give eyes like
that into trouble??? She's a fantastic alarm clock because she wants fed 7
am sharp, every morning and will march right up the bed and try her best
to make sure you know she's there, even peering up under an eye mask one
time!
We always had dogs when I was growing up and I never really liked cats but
she's totally reformed me, I'm now well and truly a cat person.
