Gorby
is an adopted feral kitten, the last of a litter of four kittens.
His brothers were all placed in good homes and he now lives in our home
together with three older brothers and sisters from different litters. His
mama cat was brought in from the cold late last year and his daddy is our
permanent guest in his own heated "condo" on our back porch. He is a
bundle of love and the apple of my wife's eye, his right eye has the same
color as my wife's eyes while the left eye is just like his biological
mother's eyes.
Gorby is very affectionate and trusting since we adopted him at the age of
three months. He grew up in our bedroom until he was large enough to
interface with his elder siblings from different litters and because of
that he is very dependent and trusting with both of us. When we go to bed
he jumps on the bed and then stretches on my chest and lightly bites my
nose or goes for any buttons on my PJ, he butts his head against my face
and purrs 100 MPH. He'll spend part of the night on our bed alongside with
Pasha (his older brother from the first litter) and Sushi (Pasha's
sister). He'll walk all over us, purr, butt his head against us or try to
bite our toes through the bedsheets, park himself on our pillows and purr
for us until we fall asleep. He'll "talk" with my wife in their special
secret way and will follow her all around the bedroom like a shadow.
He'll play 'bedsheets" with my wife when she tries to make the bed, either
resisting any attempt to move him from the top of the bedsheets or hiding
under the bedsheets and vainly trying to be inconspicuous (he weighs about
fifteen to sixteen pounds). His other favorite game is "change that channel", as soon as
he sees us with the TV remote control in hand, he'll do his best to bite
it and wrestle it away from us, so we can give him the full attention he
needs. Although he's now 2.5 years old he still behaves like a three-month-old
kitten and doesn't realize he's got the bite of a mid sized dog. But we
love him!
