This
is Alice, whom we lovingly refer to as "The Baby". Alice was rescued
as a kitten, from the side of a busy road where her mother had been hit
and killed. She was so tiny and thin, and required a lot of care to help
her survive and now thrive.
As a kitten Alice was quirky and sweet. She refused to sleep anywhere
except in the arms of myself or one of my family members. She developed a
fascination with rolled up socks, and would carry them around the house
with her. As I was too afraid to leave her at home with my other older
cats, I would take her everywhere with me in the car, and carried her
around in my purse.
Due to her condition as a kitten, Alice's growth was stunted, and she
never grew to full size, though she has large paws, and a really long
tail. At two years old, she loves to take car rides, play fetch with her
socks, and is as nosey as ever.
Alice now lives with my mother, and serves as a therapy animal for her
nervous condition. My mothers takes her everywhere, to the park, the
store, and to her doctors appointments. So all those early car trips
served her well! Alice is a really special cat, the love and companionship
she provides for my mother is fantastic. Alice is always by her side, and
is always doing something silly to make mom laugh. I don't know what life
would be like for either of us without "The Baby"!
