This
is Snickers, the oldest of our three cats. She joined our family back
in 2004 when we found her while on vacation in New Hampshire. She showed
up at our lakeside cottage the day we arrived for our week long vacation.
She was thinner and very hungry. We shared our dinner of lemon pepper
chicken with her which she devoured. She wasn't allowed in the cottage due
to our rental agreement but every morning she was out on the deck to greet
us and to be fed.
Snickers was very affectionate and we all fell in love with her. By end
then of our vacation week we were headed to the locate Wal-Mart to pick up
a carrier so we could bring Snickers home with us. We already had our
black cat Ashley at home and weren't quite sure how she'd take to
Snickers. They never really became friends but decided to at least
tolerate each other. Snickers became my daughter's cat and slept with her
every night.
When our older cat Ashley passed away in early 2006, Snickers became the
lone cat in the house but that only lasted a few months. By the end of the
summer she was joined by "the boys". Two male kittens from separate
litters who brought some chaos into Snickers world. Snickers adapted to
having the two crazy kittens in the house and they all get along quite well.
She is very loving and likes to sit on my lap at night when I watch TV or
read. She also sleeps with me most nights but likes to sleep with my
daughter if she leaves her door open.
Right now she is sitting in front of the computer monitor as I type her
story. As she enters her senior years, she is still young at heart and
brings lots of love and joy to our lives. We hope to have her around for
many years to come.
