I
picked George out of a sibling population of eight black cats when she
was eight weeks old! She has a sister named Eliot, they were named after
the female author. I couldn't tell at the time but George would rather
belong to a one-cat household. That just means that I make special efforts
daily to get one-on-one time with her. When my other two cats show up, she
generally scatters to another room.
She has just recently been diagnosed with renal disease so I'm thankful
for every day with her. She's had asthma since she was a kitten and now
has to sit twice a day for her inhaler session; she doesn't like it but
she's given up fighting against it. She loves to take her morning bath in
the bathroom sink - she stands in about two inches of water and licks
herself clean. She's never really been into cat toys but she loves to look
out at our many windows and talk to the birds. Meal time is another
favorite of hers. If there's food the other cats don't like, George takes
care of it.
She is very moody and can change quickly from purring through a petting
session to biting my hand to stop but I love her madly! She has the most
beautiful face of all three of my cats. She has three strands of white
hair on her lower belly, otherwise she's monochromatically black. When I
have visitors she's the first one to greet them, after which point, if
there's a purse or shoes involved, she does a thorough exam of the items.
She sleeps near me and I can hear her purr and it makes me feel so happy
to have her.
