This
is my Siamese cat Sugar. He is three years old, and the fulfillment
of a long-held wish. I began looking for a cat of my own a few years ago,
and I had always loved the Siamese breed. I didn't want to go through a
breeder, so I frequently checked the humane society and pure bred rescue
websites. Then one day without warning, a very good friend of mine called
me from a house he was renovating in a bad neighborhood of St. Paul. An
abandoned Siamese cat in very rough shape wandered onto the porch! I
rushed from work all the way across town to the property, where Sugar was
being fed a can of tuna indoors. It was love at first sight (and a very
large vet bill before he was healthy)! Ever since that day, Sugar has
enjoyed cashmere blankets and endless love from me. He has lots of energy
and often wakes me up in the middle of the night for a game of fetch.
He is chatty, as Siameses are known for. He is always talking about
something, and he has the sweetest kitten meow. Sometimes when I can't
find him in the house I'll meow to him, and without fail he always comes
running! It's amazing how big of a cuddler he is - every night he is right
by my side, sleeping more soundly than I am! My mother taught me how to
properly raise a Siamese and without her he would not be so spoiled. She
considers Sugar her first grand child. :) I love him very much.
