Margo
had what I suspect was a hard life before we adopted
her from the wonderful Hamilton County Humane Society. She had been a stray
when found, and had been through three or four foster homes before she landed
into our home and hearts.
Every time she was brought back to the shelter from a
foster home, she'd stop eating and became very scared and depressed. When we
brought her home, she hid under the bed for two weeks and I was sure she
would never become a social, people-loving cat.
Finally, one day she popped up in the living room while I
was sitting on the couch. She mewed, so tiny like a kitten, and when I went
to pet her, she scurried off back under the couch. It took weeks of patience
and loving encouragement from both myself and my boyfriend, Eli, but it
finally paid off.
She eats well, plays, bats at our hands for head rubs,
jumps on the couch and sleeps on the bed with us between our feet. She
'tolerates' our other cat Diego. She can be a bit of a bully with him! Which
is surprising because she is maybe all of five pounds, where Diego is almost
18. We love her and are so glad we chose to adopt her!
