To
say Amber is my pet would be an understatement. She is a model flatmate
and a loyal friend whom I am very lucky to be with. Three years ago I saw an
advert for cat adoption and decided this round-faced, big-eyed kitty should
be part of my household.
As a flatmate, Amber is most agreeable. She is quiet, observant, always clean
and presentable. Combing is the only cause of domestic discord- she is
offered a wide range of brushes but rejects all of them. If coerced, she
tolerates the indignity with good grace. Afterwards, a sincere apology plus a
little treat is all she asks for.
"The best friends are those who can simply listen". Amber accepts her human
for who she is and patiently goes about life's ups and downs with
understanding and good humour. I was once told that Amber is a philosopher of
a cat, for she has a knowing look that seems to say: the present is a present.
Her more cattish traits include dashing around the house with four paws in
the air, playing paper ball badminton on the carpet, keeping her cat sibling
in line by sitting on him, going crazy about prawns, and lying in the sun
with a big smile on her face.
