I
rescued Josey from a nearby shelter at ten weeks old. I truly believe he
is a gift from God, because at the time I did not need to get another cat,
as I had two at the time. But something in me one day said to me, "you
need to rescue a kitten." In less than a day I found Josey. I sat in the
room and told myself that the kitten will pick me or I go home. Josey was
asleep in a bed curled up across the room from me. When I sat down his
head popped up and he did a quirky meow and trotted over to me and looked
up at me. I didn't' dare do anything. He proceeded to crawl up my leg
until he got to my face and licked my face. I cried and he crawled into my
arms and purred. He became my cat!
He is an absolute Godsend to me and he fast became the King of the
household with two other Maine Coons who definitely were a lot bigger than
him. But Josey did not care. He wanted to be their friends and pretty soon
he was chasing them all over the place. However, my Maine Coons had to
leave for several months, due to personal reasons, and Josey was left
alone while I went to work every day. Every night, we had play time, chase
time and cuddle time. He truly saved my life. One of the best things about
Josey is having full on conversations with him. He will talk to you for
the longest time and he has so many different meows. There was nothing
better than coming home to Josey to tell him about my day and he told me
about all the toys he left for me all over the place. His favorite thing
to do is when I come home that he tries to jump up on me. I pick him up
and carry him around like a baby. It is very hard to do chores while
carrying a cat, but somehow we would manage.
He's now a year old and his Maine Coon buddies have returned home
permanently and I have rescued another gray kitty, Emma, whom has become
his girlfriend and they are attached at the hip. I now have a happy herd
with Romeo (Josey) and Juliet (Emma) and their two lovable Maine Coon
bodyguards. It makes for a great way coming home everyday to happy kitties
who do nothing but love!
