Tofu
is the kind of cat who enjoys her personal space. She'll stay close
so that you're in her sight, but she will only voluntarily come closer
when she wants to feel loved. Her fluffy exterior makes her even cuter and
gives more of a reason to give into her ways.
She enjoys finding new hiding spots, bird watching, and sleeping. Unlike
the stereotypical feline, she detests fish flavored foods, and only goes
for the poultry or beef. However, when there's food around, she will not
give up, until she finds out what it is, before deciding if she likes the
scent or not.
Tofu got her unusual name from my mother. We were having dinner the night
we got her and my family and I were trying to come up with a name which
would suit her well. I'm not sure what was going through her mind, but my
mom suggested "Tofu" because the color of her fur had a slight resemblance
to the soy cube. She is a very reserved cat, but when she wants attention
and affection, she will be sure to let us know. She will roll on her back,
or jump up next to us, her tail will be waving high in the air, and she'll
look at us with her big blue eyes hoping for some love. Even though at
times, Tofu may seem like she doesn't want to be around us, if my family
is scattered in different rooms, she'll pick a spot to sit where she can
see all of us, or at least know what's going on with each of us.
When Tofu was younger, she was more inclined to playing with little toys
or paper balls, but now there's a 50/50 chance she'll play back if we try
dangling some keys above her head, or throwing a toy mouse across the
room. Her favorite thing to do nowadays is trying to find a new spot
that's enclosed and which seems safe for her to be in; Whether it be in a
shoe rack, under a desk, or in a closet. She is also very fond of catnip
which makes her go crazy and makes for some great photo ops. Tofu has been
the most adorable addition to our family and we love her so much!
