Presenting
Lord Fluffer Pfouse (Foose), Fluffers or LFP for short. I had
previously owned a shaded silver Persian (Andy Boy) - which I had to let go
due to an aggressive cancer at age three. I was told it happens frequently in
pure breeds, due to genetics, so I vowed never again to own a Persian. I ended
up rescuing a 23 pound Lynx Point Tabby-Jerricho. He has/had attitude and needed
to be an only pet. The previous owners relinquished him due to the fact he
hung out at the doggy door and would attack their miniature Schnauzers when
they would try to come in. I am now his fourth owner. The 23 pounds is not all
blubber - he is just a huge, tall and long cat.
I started doing animal rescue at Lifeline Animal Placement and Protection
(LAPP) a no kill shelter (where I had adopted Andy Boy) I'd see Persians come
and go and longed for one again, but figured no way due to Jerricho's
aggression. One day this adorable Persian mix showed up at our facility and it
was love at first sight. I had to have him. He was rescued from the local
Humane Society and had been due to be euthanized (as many of the cats we
rescue are). His name was Percy and he had been wandering a neighborhood for
about 30 days. The folks who had been leaving food out for him were going on
vacation for two weeks and feared no one else would care for him - thus he was
turned over to the Humane Society. His personality was so much like Andy's and I thought
not being a pure bred, he'd be easy to care for. The problem was how would
Jerricho react? I spoke with Pat (LAPP owner) and the vet we use and they
suggested an anxiety prescription for Jerri and it worked!
I brought Lord Fluffer Pfouse home and slowly introduced them and it had/has
it moments, but it is working. I love this little guy and his antics. He is
very vocal when he wants attention. He comes to my room and 4 a.m. and sits on
the night stand staring at me and then with this loud funny sound (not really
a meow) announces it is time to get up and give him his comb out and
breakfast. He jumps onto the bathroom vanity for his "beauty treatment" and
guides my hand where he thinks he should be combed, then he herds me to the
kitchen where he and Jerricho await their breakfast. Afterward he announces
that he wants the blinds open so he can look over his kingdom, then it is time
for a little romp and rough housing with Jerricho, then it is over to the
coffee table for a snooze. When he naps on the coffee table he sprawls out and
it is hard to tell which end is which, due to all of the fluff. One eye is
gold and the other is amber. He likes to be held like a baby and has to have
his paw on my face when I hold him. He will give me what I call the "adoration
look/blink and then falls asleep in my arms. I even hear my husband talk silly
to him - calling Fluffers, Fluffy Foo Foo or Fluffer Wuffers - they have a
great relationship. LFP loves cat nip and chasing the laser. I love this
little guy and wouldn't trade him for the world. We ask you to please adopt
from a rescue and create another happy ending like his.
