I
adopted Silly Willie from my local animal shelter at seven weeks of age.
Within a few days, he became very ill. I rushed him to the Veterinary
Emergency Hospital and he was immediately put in an oxygen chamber. The doctor
gave me no guarantees, as Willie had a severe upper respiratory infection. I
visited him twice a day, encouraging him and loving him even though I had only
known him for four days prior. Slowly he started getting better. Within 1 1/2
weeks of being in the oxygen chamber, he was well enough to come home. The
doctor said Willie might have some scar tissue in his lungs due to his illness
but when I took him for a checkup to my veterinarian, there were no signs of
damage to his lungs. They were completely clear! He is my miracle kitty and I
thank God every day for bringing him into my life. After having lost my
15-year-old beloved cat the year before, I know now that Willie and I were
brought together to help each other to heal through my grief and his illness.
Silly is completely healthy today; vibrant and effervescent
in his personality. He is vocal about everything! He speaks constantly and all
I have to do, when he is being bad, is point my finger at him and he gives me
"the look" and starts jabbering away as if to say "ok, ok. I know I was bad."
I've never had a cat more vocal and I absolutely love it.
Silly loves for me to carry him over my left shoulder. He
becomes completely limp and purrs as I walk around with him. He'll begin
purring and meowing, letting me know he's so excited for me to be carrying
around his fourteen-pound body!
Silly is also very energetic. He is not low key at all! I've
never had a cat with high energy before so it's been quite the experience.
Silly likes to chase tennis balls in the house and loves playing with his
favorite "brown mouse." He flips it up in the air and jumps to catch it! He
loves running through my house and literally sounds like a horse
galloping!
Silly always has to "tap" things if he doesn't know what it
is. It might be a leaf or a twig. He's very suspicious of things, so in order
for him to feel comfortable, he extends his paw out to taps it to make sure it
isn't alive! Silly loves the snow! He loves playing in it!
Silly and my other cat Mickey D. are best friends. Mickey
was certainly missing my other cat, E.T., when he passed so bringing Willie
into his life has helped his own grieving.
He loves to have a massage so I massage his back and he
purrs and meows as if to thank me! Silly is very affectionate and independent
at the same time. He also loves to chase me and grab my leg. That is our
version of playing tag!
As you can see, I have been very blessed to have such a
wonderful cat who is chock full of personality and strength!
