This
is Scooter, aged almost three. He's a black (mostly) boy of
indeterminate breed, a rescue puss from the SPCA and we've had him since
he was about three months old. We went to get a couple of older
hard-to-place cats, but Scooter insisted on coming home too. He refuses to
learn any manners and although his much older mate Nash never scratches
furniture, steals food or behaves badly, Scooter does all three.
He is personality-plus! Scooter marches to his own drum. If he wants to
get in the bed at 2am, he has to jump all over us purring and squeaking to
make us let him under the covers. When the groceries come home he's into
all the bags to check out what's been bought and what might be for him. If
you want to read the paper, he wants it first. And a cat door is for
'cats' - he'd rather scratch the front door down until an angry human
opens it and he marches through chattering away.
He also likes to play hide and seek - scratch on the door, get human to
open it, and then run away to hide in the bushes, just so he can jump out
at you. Only quirk is he's scared of strangers!
He has been known to get a bag, pick up all his toys around the house and
then cart the bag to where he wants to play. He is one unique cat.
