This
bodacious, brimful Norwegian Forest Cat is Natasha. This magnificent cat
was twice adopted out of our splendid no kill cat shelter, Feline Rescue,
and was twice dumped on the shelter's door step late at night. She has now
found her forever home, and I am thrilled to live with her.
In February of 2011, my seventeen-year-old beloved cat Sasha died of cancer. He
had a sibling, Radka. I rescued both of these cats from Prague and brought
them back to the USA. They lived with me for most all of their lives. We
made a perfect family and I adored them both. Radka died in November 2011
of a respiratory infection caught during a visit to my veterinarian for a
minor checkup. She was only fourteen years of age, and had been the picture of
robust health Veterinary offices can be very dangerous places for cats!
I was bereft at having lost my two best friends and family members, and in
the same year! (I have no living family but my cats, and want no other). I
tried to wait a "decent interval" before considering bringing another cat
home, but it was so uncomfortable living without a cat that I visited
Feline Rescue where I met Cat Natasha. Several people wanted to adopt
Natasha, but it was preordained (!) that Natasha would live with me. I
brought her home in December 2011 and she has settled in nicely.
Natasha is a very powerful cat, and a strong jumper. She is very
intelligent, if stubborn. Once in a while we have had heart-to-heart talks
and she never has had to be told twice not to jump up to certain places.
When she does still jump, she is very accurate in both launching and in
landing. Her favorite lounging place nowadays is atop my 23-inch CRT
computer monitor, with her fluffy tail hanging down in front of the screen.
I have the utmost respect for my cats and try to accommodate them.
Accordingly, I sometimes crane my neck to see around that magnificent tail.
