This
is Chico a stray who come into the Everett Animal Shelter. Every
Wednesday the shelter has a "Free Cat Day". I went to the shelter to look
for a orange kitty after my beloved cat David passed away and there were no
orange kitties. I looked at about 20 cats and they all just sat there
except one. This one cat stuck his paw out when I looked at the kitties in
the shelter. I asked to see this one and they brought him to me. He was a
fifteen-pound cat, I rubbed his belly and he purred ... So I said, "I want this
cat please."
I paid the small fee and brought him home. They had named him Chris, but I
changed it to Chico, as it seemed to fit him better. He came fixed and
licensed and microchipped all for the low fee to get him. When I brought
him home, I discovered he had no front claws. I was angry about that. Chico
being a stray was very lucky to get picked up and brought to the shelter,
as with no claws he had no chance against any predator that might come along.
I keep Chico indoors only. We have a screen door, so he cannot sneak out
unnoticed. He now weighs twenty pounds and is a big cat. We do love Chico very
much and he is a great kitty. He gets along well with the others,
especially Buttons, who is the tabby in one of his pictures. Thank you
Chico for picking me to take you home, I may have thought I was looking for
an orange cat, but you knew I needed to take you home!
