I
would like to introduce Willa. She has been with us for eight years. I
adopted her from the local animal shelter when they had a 'half price
special' on any cat over the age of one year. That summer the shelter was
overflowing with cats. I already had two kitties, but wanted to rescue an
older cat that otherwise would have been euthanized. And there she was, a
seven-year-old tuxedo kitty who fought very hard not to be put into the carrier
I had brought with me. But once she arrived in her forever home, she
adjusted quickly.
She still acts like a kitten eight years later, playing and running. Despite
a few health problems, she is always in good spirits, and we hope she'll be
around for many more years. I encourage anybody who wants to adopt from a
shelter to consider getting an older animal. Willa would appreciate it, too!
