Our
beautiful cat Isabelle is approximately ten and a half years old. She is a
short hair tortie calico who divides her time spending summers in Cedar
Springs, Michigan and her winters traveling the Florida waterways.
Isabelle brought joy into our lives nine and a half years ago when she chose us as
her people. She was living at a campground/marina on Florida's Okeechobee
Waterway lost and alone. She was skinny, scruffy and very pregnant. The
minute she laid eyes on my husband Bill she knew she wanted him for her
own, following him around and engaging him in conversation. We weren't
sure how she would take to living on a boat but she quickly convinced us
all would be well when she refused to leave. After being with us for two
weeks she gave birth to five healthy kittens and proved herself to be a
wonderful mother. All of the kittens went to good homes except for her
first born, a daughter, who is a muted copy of her mother and is still
with us today.
Our girls are a very adventurous pair, Isabelle so much so that it's easy
to see how she became lost in the first place. She loves gardening with
her "Mom" and hanging out in the barn with her "Dad." Isabelle also loves
to travel, show off for new people, and has never met a boat she didn't
like. After traveling for a day, the girls love it when the doors to the
boat open and they get to check out their new surroundings, watching for
pelicans, dolphin, manatee and whatever else passes their way.
