Finnegan
has been in our family of eleven cats for about three years. We
adopted him as a baby from a shelter along with another kitten so they
would have a companion their own age to play with.
Finnegan's nicknames are Finny, Fin Fin, Skinny Finny, Chester Cheeto, and
Fin-Monster. He definitely lives up to the last name.
Finnegan likes to instigate trouble with the other cats and most of the
time it's just for fun. Anytime we hear a squabble we know Finny is one of
the participants. I think it's his red fur that gives him that scrappy
temperamental attitude. He loves to watch the hummingbirds at the feeder
and you frequently see a cat flying through the air like an acrobat as he
tries to catch them. Fortunately the feeder is pretty much out of his reach.
Finnegan's very best friend is our white kitty Sugarboy. We often see them
lounging together in the evening cleaning each other's ears. Then they
snuggle with their legs around each other and go to sleep. The other day I
saw Finny jump up on a patio table where Sugarboy was eating. They bumped
noses, rubbed each cheek together, then began eating out of the same bowl.
It was quite precious.
I'm not sure what breed Finnegan is mixed with, but his body looks just
like a Siamese who stole an orange tabby's coat and put it on. It has been
mentioned that he could be an Oriental Cat mix.
Finny has a favorite food bowl that must have fresh kibble in it when he
stops for a snack. If it doesn't he will find me, run along beside me and
loudly discuss this problem until I fill up the bowl. I love having
conversations with him because he just keeps talking and talking. Another
humorous thing Finnegan does is try to cover up his food after he is
finished eating. When we feed the cats he will often go from dish to dish
and cover it with the invisible cloak that apparently only he can see. He
becomes very concerned if it isn't covered just right and will keep pawing
the counter until he is satisfied the job is complete.
Finny dances to the beat of his own drum and you never know what mischief
he will be up to. He is masterful at sleeping in hidden spots and
frequently ignores us as we wander from room to room calling him for the
bedtime check. He enjoys being petted as he chats with you, and loves
getting hugs and kisses from us. Finnegan is one crazy rascal of a cat and
we love him a lot.
