When
my cat, Max, passed away, my female cat, Sophie was left alone. I
didn't want her to be lonely when I was at work. I started searching on
petfinder.org for a playmate. I came across Opie. He looked so sweet and
adorable. I decided to call his foster mom to get some information. She
said he was a very loving and affectionate kitten. She said he liked cats,
dogs and humans. She also said that he just loved everybody. She then gave
a little laugh and said, "Well he's just a mess," then laughed some more.
Well, maybe, I should have taken that as a warning, but I didn't. I filled
out the adoption papers and I was accepted as a good adoptive parent. My
sister and I went to get my new baby. I was so excited and happy. He was 6
months old at the time. I thought about changing his name because Sophie
and Opie, just might be to confusing. I decided that I couldn't change his
name because, well, he's Opie!
I got him home and Sophie was not as happy as I was to have a new kitty in
the household. She hissed, she growled and she lashed out with her claws
in warning. She did come to love her new little brother within a couple of
months. She just couldn't resist him. He was everything his foster mom
said he was. A sweet, loving and very affectionate kitty. The "mess" part
that she had mentioned turned out to be that he is very mischievous and
full of energy. He is constantly into something or on the go. If he's not
lovingly grooming his sister, he's picking on her. He doesn't just want
your affection and attention, he demands it and you just can't help loving him.
