This
is Caramel. She showed up at our house last year in the spring. We
live in the mountains/country so we think someone had to have dropped her
off. People think cats can fend for themselves in the country, but that is
no life for them! I think she's about a year old.
She is a domestic shorthair of orange and white. She resides currently and
mostly on a porch and yard in Newland, North Carolina. We can't catch her
as she is skittish of us, but we have been feeding her since we've seen her.
She just had babies on March 14th 2013 and she has been a happy mommy and
quite calm and has managed to come up close to about two feet away, which is
an improvement considering she normally runs from us. She must trust us
because she had her babies in the box we made for her to keep her warm
when it was cold!
I think since she had her babies, she has been much more friendly and
comes to us now when we call for her. We didn't know she was pregnant
until last minute. She mainly would come up in the evening for food but
started showing up more and more in any time of the day for food. Two days
before she gave birth we noticed her belly was very large so we made the
box we made for her more comfortable as she was really taking a liking to it!
She comes up to our sliding glass door all the time, not to see us, but to
see our three indoor cats. She plays with them at the window often and they
wait for her to show up. We hope soon we'll be able to convince her we are
safe to be around, and give her a better life!
