After
one of our cats, Fluffy, and my son's cat, Oliver, who we were keeping
temporarily, passed away two and a half days apart, my wife and I were
heartbroken. We had one cat in the house, Lola Baby, who had been big buddies
with my son's cat, Oliver. She was sad, depressed, and lonely, as we were. So
we headed to the San Antonio Humane Society to adopt a kitten. We had planned
to adopt a kitten back in January of this year, but when we came across Baby,
we had to take her home.
So here we went again. My wife and I went into the Cat Pavillon and walked
over to where the kittens were kept. As we walked past several kittens, this
one stopped playing, looked out at us, and tapped his paw on the glass. I
looked at my wife and said, "Let's get him out." It turned out he was a
little boy and had only been at the shelter for two days. He immediately
started purring loudly when I picked him up, and he was very playful. One of
the workers gave me his ball, and we had brought along several toys and
treats. He just played and played and tried to climb up on us. He hadn't even
been neutered yet. This was Wednesday. Thursday the vets were not doing
surgeries, so we had to wait until Friday evening to bring him home. I told
him several times that we would be back to get him in two days, and he seemed to understand.
Two days later we went back to get him, and he remembered us. He jumped right
up on me. We took him home. He immediately began to play with Lola Baby, who
at first was annoyed, but now they enjoy playing together every day. We have
had Felix for a few months now. He settled in very quickly. He sleeps with me
every night, is very affectionate, and loves his treats and thin sliced Deli
turkey, plus regular wet and dry cat food. He grooms me and will sleep on my
shoulder and face at night. Felix loves to rough-house and attack my hand
under the pillows, and he has a favorite Little Gray Mousie that we play with
that he must attack. I throw it, and Felix brings it back to me, carrying it
by the back of the neck. He caught and killed a large roach one night and
brought it to me, laying it at my feet. He sat down and looked at me, so
proud of his catch.
My wife and I love Felix very much. He has brought so much joy and laughter
and happiness back into our home. I have told him repeatedly that this is his
FurEver home. We hope all of you love him to! He is a very smart and handsome
boy and we are thankful every day he is ours!!
