This
is Crookie, short for Crookshanks like the cat in Harry Potter books.
When he was three months old he had a stroke and could not keep his head straight
up. We think he caught a cold while he was three months, he had a high fever and
that was when he had a stroke. His whole body went stiff but he was still
breathing. After the fever and the stroke passed he could not move any part
of his body and we had to feed him milk from a dropper for about two days
then his jaw started working and we fed him pork fat from a roast we had
eaten. That was yummy enough to stimulate his appetite, and got him on the
road to recovery.
We nursed him back to health, and now he is a very healthy four-year-old tom
cat. Now that he is grown up he keeps our garden clear of squirrels, a job he
takes quite seriously! He likes to sleep with me and my fiance nestled
between us just like we held him when he was ill. He is very fond of laying
on laps and just hanging out, when his garden watchcat duties allow! We love
him a lot!
