This
is Callie who came to live here about a year ago. I'm not certain
of her age, the vet says she's probably around three or younger. She would
run away at first when I'd go outside, but hunger and a need for some
human affection won out in a hurry. I found her so sweet and before long
she was laying down for a nice tummy rub. I decided to get her set up in
the garage since living outside in the elements was no longer an option
to me in the Michigan winter. She had a very bashful buddy too, but
that's another story. First I took her to the vet to see if he could
tell if she'd been spayed or not... she had. No neighbors ever reported a
missing cat so I let her live in my garage where my son installed a cat
door. I got her shots and wormed and the vet told me what she'd need for proper nutrition.
I fixed her a warm bed and got her a carpeted cat perch set up by the
window so she could observe what's happening outside. To my delight she
really liked it. About her black and white friend (a tuxedo cat)... he
ended up being her constant companion, so once I finally got his
confidence I took him to the vet to be neutered. They are such a great
duo! There's 23 acres here but they don't roam much ... in fact now that
they have the option of being inside, they seem pretty content to check
out the pine trees and take care of business and come right back in. I'm
delighted to have these affectionate kitties ... a definite win-win
situation for all of us!
